Hi there, my name is Shannon, I am a clinical psychologist working in private practice. I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Board of Health Care Funders (BHF). I work with teenagers and individual adults. My main areas of interest are attachment difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and grief (which can be a loss of any kind ranging from relationships; to jobs; to the death of a loved one). However, I am always happy to assist with any other challenges one may be facing.
MY PRACTICE:
When working with a client, I work in a case-specific manner. This means that I prefer to tailor my therapeutic practices around the needs of each client. In doing so, I draw from different therapeutic models and assist the client to navigate through their difficulties, all whilst assisting the client to find meaning in their life experiences. My aim is to help the client reach a place of balance from a bio-psycho-social perspective, whereby they can find fulfilment and strength in their lives.
SERVICES:
- Individual Psychotherapy for teens and adults
MY PREVIOUS WORK ENVIRONMENTS:
I have over 15 years of experience in psychotherapeutic work. After training, I worked for the Department of Health (DOH) at a state hospital for 11 years. Currently, I am practicing in the private sector at the Klarriti Mind and Health Center, based in Scottburgh, Kwa-Zulu Natal. Working in both government and private sectors has proven to be a rewarding experience, providing me with knowledge that I continue to apply in my work today.
