As individuals move from childhood to adulthood, they encounter some really tough years. These can be really challenging for the teenager as well as their parents (and maybe their siblings too). Adolescent therapy or therapy with teens can greatly assist during this developmental stage.
The teenage years are a tough process to go through. There is an abundance of emotional change, physical change, processing one’s own identity and managing the demands that these years place on us – all of which can be quite daunting and stressful.
Through therapy with teens I focus on assisting the teen through the personal struggles they face and moving towards more effective coping during this challenging life stage. In essence, therapy is about offering a safe space to talk through the changes and struggles experienced and helping the teen to thrive.
Adolescent and Teen psychology can assist with:
- Interactional challenges (social skills)
- Bullying (bully and bullied)
- Adapting to physical and emotional changes
- Anger or aggression
- Coping skills
- Making difficult life decisions
- Behavioural changes
