News in South Africa today, 9 October 2017 – “Depression costs South Africa more than R232 billion or 5.7% of the country’s GDP due to lost productivity – either due to absence from work or attending work while unwell”.
This stat has been release ahead of World Mental Health Day (10 October) from a study conducted by the IDEA London School of Economics, a foreign policy think tank.

It really is time for each of us to take stock of how we view mental health. The stigma around mental health (when we are all in some way affected) is devastating and all too often limits those in need from seeking help
